MEDITATIONS
Echoing the stoic emperor Marcus Aurelius works title, MEDITATIONS exhibits both Myung-Hee PARK 's exhilarating, deep meditating experience autobiography, and the artworks produced as a result, using a multi-millennial technique of Ottchill : natural lacquer.

Natural lacquer (ottchil) is a resin harvested by making incisions in the bark of the lacquer tree. This raw lacquer, milky in appearance, hardens slowly in a humid environment to form an exceptionally durable surface that withstands water and the passage of time.
Lacquer is a hard process involving canvas preparation and countless hours of laying the fresh natural sap lacquer, followed by nights of controlled temperature and humidity curing to harden the lacquer, followed by painstakingly polishing each of the dozens of layers, including inlays of mother of pearl, egg shells, and other secret ingredients.

One of Myung-Hee PARK's artwork has been selected and will be exhibited at the most prestigious and oldest (1903) Parisian art exhibition, created by artists Eugène Carrière, Félix Vallotton, Édouard Vuillard and Pierre Bonnard, the Salon d'Automne (Fall salon) - October 27th to November 1st 2026, together with her autobiography "Mother-of-Pearl Shines Even Brighter in Lacquer Darkness"
